How to Develop a Convincing CERV Project Proposal

Interactive and Step-by-Step CERV Proposal Writing Workshop - with Practice Exercises

Thursday, 24 September 2026 · 9h30-13h00 CET · Online, live and interactive · Limited to 10 participants

Are you preparing a project proposal under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) Programme and aiming to make your application stand out?

This interactive online workshop will guide you through the CERV proposal development process step by step. You will learn how to interpret the Call text, define a coherent project direction and develop the core elements of your application from an evaluator perspective.

The workshop is designed for NGOs, civil society organisations and public bodies with limited or moderate experience in preparing applications under directly managed EU funding programmes. Examples and practice exercises will be drawn from current CERV Calls, including the open Daphne Call with a deadline of 3 November 2026.

Whether you are applying now or preparing for a future opportunity, the workshop will provide evaluator-oriented guidance that you can apply directly when developing your proposal.

Participation is limited to a maximum of 10 people, allowing sufficient space for questions, discussion and individual feedback.

At the end of the workshop, you will know how to:

Get clear answers to key questions when developing your CERV application:

How do I connect my project idea with the specific goals and priorities of a CERV Call?

What does a well-structured project plan look like – including work packages, timelines, milestones and deliverables?

How can I demonstrate the relevance, impact and sustainability of my project convincingly?

What do evaluators expect in each section of the application template, and how can I respond effectively?

How can I ensure that my objectives, activities, results and expected impact form a coherent project logic?

Which common weaknesses lead to lower evaluation scores and how can I avoid them?

Meet Your Trainer

Hello, I’m Astrid Mechel,

Across my professional journey, I have successfully guided organisations and participants through EU funding with tailored advisory services and comprehensive workshops.

With more than 20 years of experience in EU funding programmes and policies, I bring a wide-ranging perspective on EU proposals. I have written successful EU grant applications myself in previous roles, including while working for NGOs in Brussels on activities in the fields of social inclusion and participation. As a Project Manager in an EU Executive Agency and, later, as a National Contact Point, I gained first-hand experience of the EU funding process and project management cycle. More recently, my assignments as an expert evaluator have given me direct insight into how proposals are assessed against the evaluation criteria.

With a thematic focus on grants for social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and research and innovation, I offer targeted guidance to help you navigate EU funding and maximise your project’s prospects for success.
